Dog Bites

Phoenix Dog Bite Lawyer

The injuries from a dog bite can be very serious and can cause permanent damage. Arizona law is tough on pet owners who allow their pets to harm other people. If you or a loved one have been hurt by a dog bite, you need to contact an experienced attorney as soon as you can so that you can understand what options you have in recovering damages.

If you or a loved one have been in a dog bite incident, it is important that you consult with a personal injury attorney. Our legal team works on a contingency fee. This means that you do not need to pay anything when you retain us unless we win your case. At that point, we would take a percentage of compensation as our attorney retainer fee. We offer free case evaluations to help you determine what your next steps need to be.

What Should You Do After a Dog Bite in Arizona?

Arizona has very strict laws regarding dog bites. If you have been bitten by a dog, you must report the bite immediately to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. At that point you must determine if you believe the dog is a vicious dog or not. If you believe the dog is vicious, then you must take the following steps:

  • Reporting a dog bite: Both the dog owner and the dog bite victim will need to report the dog bite incident to the Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. The people making the report need to be ready to describe the dog in detail. (Breed, color, size and any distinct markings)
  • If you believe the dog is vicious: If you believe the dog is a vicious dog, then you need to file a vicious dog petition with the city or justice court where the dog owner lives.

How Does Insurance Come Into Play in a Dog Bite Case?

Liability for dog bite injuries is often covered under homeowners insurance or renters insurance. This is a positive if you are a victim of a dog bite injury because that means there is a source of income where damages can be recovered for your medical bills. Since this income would be coming from an insurance company, that means you will have to deal with an insurance adjuster. The insurance adjuster’s goal is to have the insurance company pay you as little money as possible from the active insurance policy. You or your loved one should not attempt to speak or negotiate with the insurance company without an attorney present. Having an attorney will allow you to have someone that is extremely knowledgeable on how to get the most compensation from insurance companies for injuries.

I hired Justin to represent my daughter after we were in a car accident. Justin explained the whole process to me and made the process simple to understand. I highly recommend Justin to anyone who needs a personal injury lawyer.

Justin is the best! His staff is amazing too! He's your go-to guy for all accident cases. My only complaint is that my wife thinks he's cute and it makes me uncomfortable. Lol. Thanks for the money Justin!

James O.

Justin was amazing dealing with a non-injury accident we experienced. He was able to get the at fault's insurance to pay despite the driver denying any wrong doing initially. He was quick to get a resolution for us so we could get repairs taken care of. Thanks, Justin!
